Dear residents of Schwabinger,
dear friends of Schwabing

for 35 years by now the exhibitors of the Schwabing Christmas Market manage to spread this special atmosphere. An atmosphere that leads one to suspect the bohemian side of town - a total work of art right in the heart of Schwabing. But of what I am impressed by eyery year now is that the exhibitors - besides from their artisanal offers, their multifaceted catering, sculptures, and light instllations - never forget the Munich fellow citizens who do not stand on the bright side of life. For every year they support social services. This year two ventures will be supported:

At the venture „Wish Tree“ a christmas tree full of hearts will be placed next to the stage. On each of this hearts displaced children wrote their christmas wishes. These children who are - completely innocent - in dire straits actually live at residential homes of the Caritas organisation „Alveni“. Visitors are encouraged to pick a wish and fulfill it by yielding the wish to the organsation of the Schwabing Christmas Market. At fourth Sunday in Advent the children get their presents handed over.

The next venture supports the registerd association „Ghettokids – social projects“ at Hasenbergl (a Munich suburb). Each artist participating the market gives away a piece of art. Three or four of them will be wrapped in transparency film to form a total work of art. This will be sold at 18th of December. The revenue will be inured to the benefit of disadvantaged children and teenagers at Hasenbergl. The hand-over will commence at the fourth Sunday in Advent, too.

Of course I am very pleased by this exemplary social commitment. Therefore I wish many visitors with huge hearts on the Schwabing Christmas Market.
